About this project

CHEP UK & Ireland operates a state-of-the-art pallet repair and service center in South Ockendon, near Thurrock, Essex. The site faced significant challenges with severe surface water flooding during heavy rainfall, rendering it unusable. Additionally, the surfacing of the service yard was in poor condition.

BDC was engaged as civil engineering consultants to provide site supervision and verification reporting on behalf of the client. The scope of work included constructing a replacement pavement for the service yard and installing new drainage systems, incorporating a soakaway and attenuation measures.

As part of the project, BDC conducted initial site investigations of the service yard and the existing drainage network. Based on the findings, various solutions were proposed for the client’s consideration. BDC then oversaw the appointed contractor to ensure the works were carried out in compliance with the agreed specifications and standards.
