Brighton Hospital
About this project
BDC was appointed as the Structural Engineering consultant for Brighton Hospital to evaluate and design the foundations required for a new external data centre unit. This critical infrastructure upgrade involved assessing the site conditions, structural requirements, and operational demands to ensure the unit’s stability and long-term performance.
The project began with a detailed site investigation to analyse the existing ground conditions and identify any potential challenges, such as soil composition, load-bearing capacity, and proximity to existing hospital facilities. Based on these findings, BDC developed a foundation solution tailored to the specific needs of the data centre unit, which included accommodating the heavy loads and dynamic forces typically associated with such installations.
By combining technical expertise with a thorough understanding of the site’s constraints, BDC delivered a foundation design that provided a robust and reliable base for the new data center, supporting the hospital’s growing technological needs.
