Bishop Auckland Hospital
About this project
BDC was engaged to provide specialised consultancy services to Bishop Auckland Hospital, focusing on the structural integrity of its external walls. The scope of the project encompassed a thorough due diligence assessment to evaluate the condition of the walls and to ensure the soundness of the embedded brick ties, which play a critical role in maintaining structural stability.
The inspection process involved detailed visual surveys and, where necessary, targeted investigations to identify any signs of deterioration, such as cracks, displacement, or corrosion of the brick ties. These evaluations were complemented by material testing and an in-depth review of historical construction records, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the structure’s current state.
The goal of BDC’s involvement was to provide the hospital with clear, actionable insights into the condition of its external walls and to confirm that they meet safety and performance standards. This project underscores BDC’s commitment to delivering expert consultancy services that prioritise safety, functionality, and client confidence.
